PE and School Sport

Vision

Our vision is that all children develop a love of being physically active and are confident to take part in a wide range of activities and sports. We support children to develop teamwork skills and sportsmanship. We teach children that being physically active will enable them to stay fit, healthy and happy.

High quality PE and School Sport is an entitlement of all children of every ability, regardless of athletic talent.

Aims

We aim to ensure that our PE provision will inspire our children to become fully engaged, find activities they love and raise their aspirations. The provision will be appropriate and fully inclusive to meet the needs of all our children, whilst providing sufficient challenge. The children will be provided with the skills, confidence and relevant experiences to succeed. Children will develop an understanding of the need for self discipline, to develop skills and be able to participate competitively.

We are very pleased to be working with Primary Stars to deliver one of our PE sessions a week. Primary Stars offer a wide range of tailored provision, including PE, after-school, and lunchtime clubs, as well as pre-school sessions and sports leadership opportunities. Their highly skilled coaches work with our teaching staff to deliver a coherent PE curriculum with a consistent whole-school approach.

Primary Stars help us with our aim to encourage our children to be active and to be introduced to a wide variety of sporting and PE opportunities.

Primary Stars currently work in school on Friday lunchtimes and afternoons delivering a lunchtime club, PE lessons for Reception & Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. They also provide an afterschool club from 3.30 pm to 4.15 pm.

Primary Stars deliver competitive and larger events throughout the year whcih provide our children with the chance to work with larger groups of children from other local schools, in different settings. Our children love taking part in their sporting events at Parwich and Waterhouses.
